Please read these terms carefully before using ExamPad+. By registering your school or using the platform, you agree to these terms.
ExamPad+ is a free windows based exam word processor designed for use by UK primary and secondary schools. It is operated by the ExamPad+ project ("we", "us", "our").
ExamPad+ is provided free of charge to schools. There are no subscription fees, per-student charges, or licence costs. We reserve the right to introduce optional paid features in the future, but core functionality for schools will remain free.
ExamPad+ is intended for use by:
By registering a school account, you confirm that you are an authorised member of staff at a recognised UK educational institution and that you have the authority to agree to these terms on behalf of your school.
Students under the age of 13 may only use ExamPad+ where the school has registered on their behalf. Schools are responsible for ensuring appropriate parental consent is obtained where required by their own policies.
The school administrator who registers the school account ("Admin") takes responsibility for:
You agree not to use ExamPad+ to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any school or user that we reasonably believe is breaching these terms.
All intellectual property rights in the ExamPad+ platform, including its software, design, and content, are owned by or licensed to us. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership of those rights to you.
Student work and documents created using ExamPad+ remain the property of the student and/or school, as appropriate. We make no claim to ownership of content created by users.
You may not copy, redistribute, or reproduce any part of the ExamPad+ platform without our prior written permission.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data. It forms part of these terms and can be read at exampadplus.co.uk/privacy.
In summary:
We aim to keep ExamPad+ available at all times but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned maintenance where possible. However, we accept no liability for any disruption to exams or assessments caused by service unavailability.
We strongly recommend that schools have a contingency plan in place for examination scenarios, such as access to paper-based alternatives, and do not rely solely on any single piece of software — including ExamPad+ — for conducting regulated examinations.
ExamPad+ is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We shall not be liable for:
As ExamPad+ is provided free of charge, these limitations are considered reasonable.
ExamPad+ is designed to assist schools in meeting the requirements of JCQ's Instructions for Conducting Examinations (ICE), particularly section 14.25 regarding the use of word processors in examinations.
However, it is the sole responsibility of the school to ensure that the configuration and use of ExamPad+ meets all current requirements of the relevant exam board(s) and the JCQ. Regulations change regularly, and schools must verify compliance with the most recent JCQ guidance each examination series.
We make no guarantee that ExamPad+ will satisfy every exam board's requirements in all circumstances. Use of ExamPad+ in live examinations is at the school's own risk.
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service or applicable law. We will notify registered schools of material changes by email and/or by a notice on the platform.
Your continued use of ExamPad+ after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
If you have any questions about these terms, please contact us via the details on our website. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
